Sports

m'shawks
I have been an avid sports fanatic for as long as I can remember.

Living in Seattle, my first loves are for all things sport Seattle.
But I pay attention to the greater sports world as well.

I’ll attempt to keep find something sports related to write about. Right now… with the crappy Seahawks season… not much for me to chime in about.
Only whine in about. :P

I am very happy that Tim Ruskell got the boot.

I am very happy that “Trader” Jack Zduriencik is the GM for the Mariners. I feel he and Wakamatsu are really taking the M’s in the right direction.
I can’t wait to see what 2010 holds for the M’s.

I’m still pissed that the Sonics got moved. Even though I think the NBA as entertainment, and a business model, is severely lacking. I will forever boycott Starbucks for this reason. Well… that and it’s crap coffee designed for sheeple.

Well… I have to admit a pretty stellar couple of days for sports in Seattle.
First Jake Lockers decides to return to UW for his final season, then it looks as though Trader Jack will strike gold again by acquiring former Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee.
There still a lot to flesh out about the Lee trade. Three teams involved. The Phillies, Toronto and the M’s. We’ll see.
A lot of the sports media is in a frenzy over the trade. Zduriencik appears to have committed highway robbery in this one.
If it comes to pass, King Felix and Lee should be as potent a 1, 2 as any in baseball.
Lee’s looking for big money after this next year so I know his effort will not be lacking. Does that mean one and done in Seattle?
    Maybe.
I sure hope not. He’s an Arkansas boy though. This might not be the climate for him.
Here’s to hoping the deal goes through and he falls in love with the Great Pacific NW.

    As for Locker?
Wow. He gave up 20+ million to stay at UW for his senior year.
That’s a huge statement about his character.
He’s always been a Husky fan. I can’t say I’m very surprised about this development. I am surprised that he was rated #1 in the entire draft by a few pundits.
No question he has exceptional talent. I guess it surprises me more that any of them even bothered to look up this way.
UW has been such a disappointment until Sarkisian showed up. I didn’t figure the press to be paying as much attention as they apparently have.
I am very happy for the Huskies. I hope Montlake Jake leads them to a bowl win! Good for you, Jake!
