Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real
Wednesday 3/10; We had Lukas Nelson, son of Willie. Very good blues guitar driven music. At times some very heartfelt renderings. At other times a whirlwind of energy and guitar performance tricks, like playing with his teeth, etc. He was very warmly received by the staff. Which is saying something as the blues gets played a lot at 3D. I liked it better when he wasn’t so flashy and was more tender and soulful. He definitely has his father’s timbre in his voice.
And he told a really funny joke: “Son, if you keep masturbating, you’re gonna go blind.” “Dad, I’m over here.”
All in all, he is very gifted and very young. This will be an act that will be able to be enjoyed for years to come.

Personally, I had a horrible night. It was as if I had forgotten to pack my brains for the evening. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. We as a restaurant screwed up. I screwed up. I had a horrible time dealing with difficult guests. I’m just glad that I got through it all.
